Requirements
Node.js 22, pnpm, a Sanity account and somewhere to host the site, and what each one is for.
On your computer
- Node.js 22. The exact version is in the
.nvmrcfile. If you use nvm, runnvm usein the project folder. - pnpm. The version is set in
package.jsonunderpackageManager. Runcorepack enableonce (Corepack ships with Node.js) and the right pnpm version is used automatically. - Git. Recommended. It keeps a history of your changes, and most hosts deploy from a Git repository.
- A terminal and a code editor.
Check your setup:
Terminal
node -v
pnpm -v
node -v should print a version starting with v22.
Accounts
- Sanity (sanity.io). Stores your content and runs Studio, the editor for your site. Check Sanity's plans for your usage.
- A host. Any static host, such as Cloudflare Pages, Netlify or nginx, or a server that runs Node.js or Docker. See Deploy.
- A domain, if the site should run on your own address.
What you need to know
You don't need to know Astro to install and deploy a template. You'll run commands in a terminal and edit a .env file. To change the design, you'll edit Astro components and Tailwind CSS.
