# Install locally

> Unzip the template, install its dependencies and run it on your computer with sample content. No accounts needed yet.

## Unzip

```bash
unzip ferro-v1.0.0.zip
cd ferro
```

The ZIP contains one folder, named after the template.

## Start a Git repository

```bash
git init
git add -A
git commit -m "Ferro v1.0.0"
```

Committing the untouched template first gives you a clean starting point to compare against later. Keep the repository private: the license doesn't allow publishing the source code.

## Install dependencies

```bash
corepack enable
pnpm install
```

## Run the site

```bash
pnpm dev
```

Open http://localhost:4321. Until you connect Sanity, the site runs on its sample content and prints a warning in the terminal. That's expected.

`pnpm dev` starts the development server in the background and returns you to the prompt. To check on it or stop it:

```bash
pnpm exec astro dev status
pnpm exec astro dev logs
pnpm exec astro dev stop
```

Use `localhost`, not `127.0.0.1`. The development server listens on IPv6 (`::1`), so `http://127.0.0.1:4321` won't connect.

## Next

[Connect Sanity](https://templates.artizanteknoloji.com/en/docs/connect-sanity) so you can edit the content in Studio.
